Next stop 1- Unit 10- Lesson 1
Time: 35 minutes
Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
+ Unit objective: Learn to describe rooms and furniture in the house and ask where things are.
+ Lesson objective: Identify furniture.
Students know new vocabulary: Table, closet, TV, bed, sofa, chair.
Materials required for the lesson: Textbook, page 98; VCD; Flashcards; Chalk board.

 Warm up

10 minutes
flash card, CD.
- Greet the whole class “Good afternoon students.” (Wave hand and smile).
- How are you?
- Greet the teacher “Good afternoon teacher.”
- I’m fine. Thank you!


-Show the picture of the House in Textbook, page 97 and ask:
- What do you see in the picture? (Các con thấy gì trong tranh?)
- Who are they? (Họ là những ai?).
- Can you guess where they are from?
-Look at the board and answer the teacher’s question.




- They’re from Japan. Welcome to Japan! (Bài học thứ 4 này chúng ta sẽ cùng nhau khám khá về nước Nhật Bản)
- Stick the word: Japan to the board and teach the students to pronounce.
- Do you know anything about Japan? ( famous manga Doraemon, Fuji mountain, sushi, robot Ashimo…)
- Look at the board and repeat after teacher.

 Teacher’s presentation

10 minutes.
Textbook, printout papers, flash cards, CD.
Activity 1: Listen and point. Then say.
-Draw a house and ask the Ss to tell the teacher what things are in the house.

Tell the teacher what are in the house.


- Stick the flash card of each furniture after the Ss’ answer, and teach them how to say the word.

-Listen and repeat.



- Names of furniture: Table, closet, TV, bed, sofa, chair.



-Listen and repeat:
- Have Ss look at the picture and tell the teacher which one they like best and why.
- Tell the teacher which one they like best.



- Play the VCD and ask the Ss to point.
- Play the VCD again and have them repeat. Then have them read in groups and individually
- Listen to the VCD, then point and repeat. Read in groups or individually.

 Students’ practice

5 minutes
Play “What’s missing?”
- Divide the class into 2 groups: Eddie and Beakie.
- Stick 3 flashcards to the board, call one student in each team, have them look at the board, say the words and try to remember 3 things.


- Try to remember the words and speak out quickly.



- Have them close their eyes when the teacher puts away 2 flashcards, teacher counts 1, 2, 3 Open your eyes, Ss look at the board and say the words of the missing flashcards as quickly as possible, the faster will get one point.
-Play the game.



- Go on with other Ss and other flashcards.
- To make more difficult, teacher can stick 4, 5 or 6 flashcards and put away 2 or 3 flashcards at the same time.


 Students’ production

7 minutes
CD, flashcards, new words (on print out-papers)
 Activity 2: Talk about the picture with a friend.
- Ask the Ss to look at the picture of the living room and write living room on the board.


- Look at the book.




- Ask “Is there a table? Is there a TV?” and have the Ss reply There’s a…/There isn’t a…
- Answer the teacher’s questions.



- In pairs, have the Ss say there is….. or there isn’t…. in the picture.
- Work in pairs.



- Invite some Ss to the board to present the picture.
- Guide Ss to do exercises in workbooks.
- Presenting.

- Do exercises.

 Closing

3 minutes
- Show a small part of furniture’s flash cards and have the Ss guess then call out the names that they have learnt.

- Look at the pictures and guess then call out the words.
